The objects of this study were 183 families selected by random sample method among the registered families at the Sungdong Ku and Dongdaemun Ku health center.
The purpose of this study is to help making plan for family health nursing in the future and to provide basic materials which can be used as a measuring tool of educational effects by additional survey after a period of time. To identify the level of their health need by analizing the difference according to economic status, religion, education, growing place and number of family.
This survey was done during the period from July to August, 1974 through home visit interview. And this survey was tested by F-ratio (analysis of variance).
The hypothesis of sthistudy were as follows:
1. Family health needs of the upper classes will be higher than that of the lower classes.
2. The family without religion may have higher health needs than the family which have it.
3. The family which has lower level educational parcents may have higher health needs than the
family with higher educational parents.
4. There will be significant difference in family health needs according to growing place of the family.
5. There will be significant difference in accordance with the number of family. Results of the study are as follows:
1. Family health needs showed significant difference in economic status(P<0.01) and was higher at lower classes than higher classes. Thus hypothesis 1 was supported.
2. Family health needs showed significant difference according to the existance of religion (p < 0.01), and family group without religion has higher health needs than The family group with religion. So hypothesis 2 was also supported.
3. Family health needs indicated significant difference in conformity with parents educational level (P <0. 01) and the family with parents who have lower educational level was proved to be in higher health needs. Accordingly hypothesis 3 was affirmed.
4. Family health needs showed significant difference according to growing place (P<0.01) but it did not show any significant difference in family¢¥s attitude to control health and in ordinary life (P>0.05). So hypothesis 4 was partially supported and partially denied.
5. Family health needs demonsterated significant difference in accordance with the numbar of family ( P 0. 01, P 0.05) . Since fewer number ¢¥ families have stronger health needs than larger number families, hypothesis 5 was positively supported.
